Very Distinctive Permissions

For one of Eliot's superpowers in MoM I've turned his very distinctive shtick into an actual power. So, when he's interacting with people he'll get flashes of intuitive knowledge about them that he'll only be able to explain by referring to some distinctive aspect of that person. It's not going to work all the time and it's not going to tell him everything about any given person or situation.

Please comment here to let me know if it's something you definitely do or definitely don't want to play with. If you give me blanket permission then I'll have things come up when it seems fun to me to bring it up, or feel free to suggest specific things that you think it would be fun for Eliot to pick up on. Likewise if there's something you specifically don't want him to ever be able to tell that's fine too.

That said, even without his superpower Eliot is extremely observant when it comes to (Earth) military and combat training, so please also let me know if your character has that kind of background in general because he's very likely to pick up on it.

Wanda Maximoff | Marvel Cinematic Universe | [personal profile] divaricate:

• Blanket permissions for everything.

→ In terms of fighting styles though, since you mention that specifically here, what little hand to hand combat Wanda knows would look like US Military -- Army and Air Force, mostly -- mixed with Russian fighting that looks KGB-ish. She's much more likely to use her powers than this, though.

• For characters not from the MCU and thus from a world without a Sokovia in it, I OOCly describe her Sokovian accent as sounding most likely "vaguely Serbian" (after her canon update to Captain America: Civil War, which I did in May, it isn't quite as strong as it used to be, but it's definitely still there). Eliot can guess Serbia right off the bat, or just chalk it up to an odd Eastern-ish European accent.

Sara Lance | Arrow & Legends of Tomorrow (DC-verse; CW network) | [personal profile] canaria:

• Blanket permissions for everything.

→ And for her fighting styles, Sara was trained by the League of Assassins, so she looks every bit the trained assassin that she is when she's fighting, and her weapon of choice is a baton - with knives as a close second, though she's certainly capable of using other weapons like various types of bows, guns, etc.

Kel hasn't been trained by any military on Earth, but her stances will often reflect her background training in Judo (ish) and naginata. She'll be uncomfortable with any weapon more 'modern' than a crossbow.

You have blanket permission to pick up on whatever, but since they're going to be spending a lot of off-screen time in each other's space, have some deets:

  • Frank is a Recon Marine, specifically a Scout Sniper, but with excellent hand-to-hand training as well stealth/distance attacks and a generally remarkable talent for killing people (/jazzhands). He's had a 14-year career so the military habits are pretty deeply ingrained at this point, plus his recent traumas mean he pretty much never turns that part of his brain off anymore.

  • Less obvious is the fact that he's a (former) dad, he definitely has some little dad habits around the house. Inventive use of Tupperware, etc. I'd be fine with that coming up in rp whenever seems fun to you but for context Frank's kids were brutally murdered so IT WON'T BE A HAPPY CONVERSATION or a long one, probably, he doesn't talk about it much.

  • If Eliot's powers of observation extend to dogs, Frank's dog Max is a former dog-fighting dog with a high prey drive and occasionally evident post-abuse fear/aggression behaviors. 8( Otherwise he's very sweet.

HI this is Hope, I am filling out your permissions post.

This gal here, Kitty:
+Has had street brawler training, absolutely nothing formal
+Can shapeshift, but Eliot is always welcome to be able to spot her by her very distinctive hair-tuck or something

I also play Mark Vorkosigan ([personal profile] jacksonian), who:
+Is highly highly trained in martial arts, in a style that's sort of krav maga-esque - lots of kicks, brutal takedowns, use of his teeny-tiny size, because he is a small baby assassin
+Is a clone of another character (Miles Vorkosigan, [personal profile] dendarii) and has mannerisms creepily like his
+will eventually want to hire Eliot because he loves food and he loves chefs and make him things, please

Oh yes that's a good point. Let's start with something new for them, in that case!

Things for Kang, along with blanket permissions!

- Ex-military officer proficient in swords, knives, and most other types of medieval weaponry, along with hand-to-hand (fighting style doesn't really match anything in particular from Earth)
- Construction engineer, if that's something Eliot would pick up on
- The language he speaks around others isn't actually English, although it's similar enough to be understood
- Even in human form, he doesn't move quite like a human

Blanket permission for picking up on anything for this guy! Whatever is in his app (or canon, or just ask) is welcome to be noticed.

Jack may, however, be a little odd to pick up on:

- The way he carries himself is always low energy, slothful, all dragged feet and sloped shoulders, but everything he does is thought about and precise.
- Jack is many thousands of years old so he doesn't really have any hugely distinctive style of anything, he is like the biggest mash up of many things, including skills and jobs. He's lived all over the world in all different time periods, but he has spent his most recent few decades in America and Canada, so he's likely picked up most of the bad habits of 'murica.
- He has done plenty of soldier work, prison time, work as bodyguards, stunt man etc, so despite his vast mix of fite skillz he tends to focus very much on simple brawling and using his weight and momentum to his advantage.
- This guy is just kind of weird ok, his social skills are zero, he's awkward, avoids eye contact or holds it for way too long. Mix of depression and just not giving a shit about conversing with humans. He's interested in imPorts though because they are ~*~different~*~, so he'll be just a bit more vocal and a bit more interested around them.

Count Dooku: Eliot would be able to perceive that Dooku is a trained aristocrat with a heavy schooling on courtly manners and diplomacy, and that he's a master swordsman with enormous skill and experience in duelling.

Jacob Taylor ([personal profile] darkpants_warmfeeling): Eliot would be able to see Jacob's military experience written all over his body. He's a veteran frontline soldier, and it shows in his posture, physique, body language, and just the way he handles himself! However, Jacob is a SPACE SOLDIER from THE FUTURE, so Eliot wouldn't be able to peg him as a member of any unit he's familiar with.
